Playing and learning are totally natural for toddlers, providing
fun activities can enhance their physical skills. These toddlers are just
learning about the world around them and how they fit in it. So provide them educational
activities that will help you entertain and stimulate your toddlers.
Learning the ABCs.
The best place to start learning the alphabet is your child’s name. Write it
often on drawings, chalkboards and allow him to trace the letters after you write
them. Expose him to the rest of the ABCs
through singing, books, magnetic letters, stickers and many more.
Teach them Numbers.
Counting games can teach your child to know the names of numbers, what they
look like and how to count them in order. Count aloud with them as you climb
stairs, counting buttons or seeds, putting away blocks and many more, these
activities can excite your child to learn the numbers.
Knowing the Colors.
Children love colors on everything from toys to dishes to clothes and to
crayons. Play colors with him as you wear red clothes, eat red food and play
with red toys; this activity can help him remember the name of the color. Allow
them to play crayons, colorful clays, and finger
paints that are non-toxic and washable. These kinds of activity are messy
but with a little preparation using newspapers on the floor or table limits the
downside. Let your child explore his artsy side!
The Shape Game. As
your child plays with his blocks, casually mention the shape he’s using to make
him recognize the shape. Make a square, triangle or circle for him to copy, and
show him how a square and triangle can turn into a house. Make him your little
Sherlock by making him search a room with shapes, with these activities it will
help your child recognize different shapes.
Toddlers love to play and there are plenty of fun activities
you can try at home. Simple toys and games work best but they will work best if
you participate in your child’s playtime. Sitting with your child and be there
as you teach them can build self esteem not to mention strengthen the bond
between the two of you.
