A teenager, in the habit of driving his BMW dangerously and
regularly on the wrong side, hit an old man amid one of his 'thrill' drives 10 days
ago. A video that has now gone viral shows him hitting the senior citizen.
No action has been made against the kid up until now. Mail
Today has accessed the video - shot by his co-passenger friend with a plan to
show off amongst his friends.
The 11-second film shows the kid speeding on the wrong side
in Model Town and hitting an old man in blue shirt. Stun and dread is visible
on the man's face as he is hit. The video at that point stops suddenly. The
casualty reportedly received critical injuries.
The kid, who is a minor holds an invalid permit, and has
been driving for past few years. At the time of the accident the speed of his
BMW car bearing Haryana registration number was around 80 km per hour.
The issue was reported to police by a man known to the kid
who had gotten the video. But they didn't make any action saying that the
number plate of the vehicle was not visible. The complainant showed the video
to the cops and told to them that he would help them to distinguish the
accused, however they didn't pay any regard to it. When contacted, senior cops
declined to remark on the incident.
Be that as it may, a previous police official, who didn't
wish to be named, said Delhi Police could have taken the issue suo-motu and in
based of the video along with other details of the accused could have taken
action against him.
"The kid's father owns a car emporium in Karol
Bagh," said human rights activist Kundan Srivasatva, who was also shown in
the video.
He uncovered insights about the kid and stated, "This
is not the first time he has gotten away with rash driving and accident. Recently,
he damaged a Hyundai Verna car but was given clean chit by police."
